Innovative Construction Technology

Posted by Dave Robertson on Mar 27, 2013 9:38:00 AM

It’s easy to say that you deliver innovative solutions for your clients. It is much harder to actually be on the forefront of inventing new methods and processes. We have been actively inventing new solutions for many years and made the decision to seek a patent for some of our latest innovations.

Infinite Source is pleased to announce that we have been granted U.S. patent number 8412618 by the US Patent and Trademark Office. As part of our System for Managing Construction Project Bidding we have developed methods to efficiently manage bidder verification and bid bond applications. These key elements of the online construction bid submission process help ensure the authenticity of the bidder and of the bid security provided with the bid. When coupled with Infinite Source’s complete online bid submission process, both bidders and those receiving bids can have confidence that the online process delivers verifiable, complete and fully compliant bid submissions. This reduces the risks and problems arising from non-compliant or incomplete bids while maintaining a highly secure yet competitive environment to manage and receive bids.US patent

This latest achievement is a great indication of our ongoing commitment to research and development leading to more efficient and effective ways to meet the ever evolving needs of the construction industry.

Infinite Source Systems Corp. is launching its latest innovative service today. Our years of experience delivering high quality online services combined with our ability to deliver practical, user friendly innovation have resulted in a new industry leading service called i.s. on demand. It is a low cost, secure subscription based document control and bid management system that is expected to quickly replace ftp sites and brown envelopes as the industry standard for sharing information and submitting bids.

Since 1997 our technology solutions have been used to manage and control the project documents for tens of thousands of projects delivering huge cost savings and efficiencies. In 2010 we began delivering bid management solutions and since then our technology has been used to receive thousands of bid submissions eliminating the need for the physical production and transportation of bids to a closing location. i.s. on demand takes the best of these two solutions and combines them in an innovative and highly competitive new service. Users simply sign up and start using it.

Award Winning Technology

Posted by Dave Robertson on Oct 28, 2010 6:42:00 AM

PlanSource AwardIs the internet a useful vehicle for delivering innovative new sustainable practices to the construction industry? I am pleased and proud to say that the definitive answer to this is yes! On October 26th our firm was awarded the Vancouver Regional Construction Association’s inaugural Sustainable Construction and Innovation Award for our recently introduced online construction bid submission technology.

The award “recognizes sustainable construction and innovation that is having proven economic, environmental and/or social benefits, contributing to sustainable building practices. The innovation should be recognized as a robust building project, product or service, to which the industry is responding with enthusiasm.” We are very pleased that a panel of industry experts selected our technology as the solution best fitting these criteria from among a strong field of candidates.

We launched our PlanSource online bidding module in July 2009.  It takes the completion and submission of complex construction bids, formerly a paper-based process, and adapts the process for the Internet eliminating the need for bidders to prepare and print a paper tender form and then physically deliver it to the bidding authority. Even the submission of Bid Bonds is done digitally eliminating even more paper and delivery impacts. In addition to the important environmental benefits there are very substantial business efficiencies delivered by the technology creating a complete win/win/win for the organizations using it, the project it is used on and the environment we all live in.

In the 10 years our online technologies have been used in the construction industry we have literally saved a forest of trees worth of paper production. The fact that paper wasn’t required to be physically transported has also had a major impact on the amount of greenhouse gases polluting our atmosphere. Our team works hard to continually deliver innovative new solutions for the construction industry and it is very gratifying to know that their combined efforts are also helping to make our world a better place for us and our children to live in.

10 Years Later ...

Posted by Dave Robertson on Jun 24, 2010 8:48:00 AM

This week we had a small celebration for our team and our other colleagues and friends in our building to mark two important events. The first is the launch of PlanSource FT – File Transfer our latest new technology solution for the construction industry. The second reason was to mark the achievement of 10 years of bringing practical and user friendly software to the construction industry.

construction software celebrationWe launched this company in 2000 just as the bubble was bursting. We had two customers and one product designed for construction association planrooms. Over the course of our 10 year journey we have grown to be an innovative leader in on demand construction software for construction professionals. Our client base has expanded to include Planroom Operators, General Contractors, Architectural firms, Developers as well as Public and Private Owners. We now have three distinct products that deliver effective solutions for a dozen different functional requirements for our clients. We’ve hosted documents and delivered services for well over 100,000 projects, have tens of thousands of people who have used our services and have delivered millions of pages of documents and project information online. We know all about being on the leading edge of the technology adoption curve and have successfully reached this 10 year milestone.

I hope you will forgive me for this very public celebration of our team’s accomplishments but I am very proud of the company we have built and the continuous practical innovation we have managed to bring to the industry. Our product development roadmap includes a number of exciting new innovations that will complement the core services we have already introduced. The evolution of online bid submission and the integration of technologies like BIM into everyday workflows offer tremendous opportunities for the future. I am excited with the direction the industry is moving and look forward to continuing to participate in building a better construction industry.

Christmas and New Years Wishes

Posted by Dave Robertson on Dec 24, 2009 7:50:00 AM

This past year has been a challenging one for many of our clients. Construction is truly a bellwether industry and the signs of the economic slowdown were felt across North America. We are in the fortunate position of seeing the level of activity occurring as it occurs in many parts of the country. There are exceptions but for the most part there was still work to be had .... but there is no doubt that the competition for it was intense. It is satisfying for us at Infinite Source to know that we helped our clients be as competitive as they could be and that their businesses and ours are both better for having worked together.

We see lots of reason for optimism and are very encouraged about what lies ahead for us and the construction industry next year. It is our heartfelt wish for all of our clients, colleagues and industry friends that you and your families have a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and prosperous 2010.

Generating Efficiencies and Increased Productivity in the Construction Industry

Posted by Dave Robertson on May 27, 2009 11:28:00 AM

Welcome to our blog. We are really pleased to be launching this new initiative. There is an ever growing interest in the use of information technology to generate productivity and efficiencies in the construction industry. For that reason we felt it was time to create a place to share information and ideas on the topic.

Our company is focused on delivering efficiency and productivity in the area of project information and documentation but this blog will not be limited to discussion of only those issues. If there are IT solutions that contribute to betterment of the construction process we want to hear about them and share that information.

Our intention is to have an open conversation about topics of interest to the industry. We do not intend to edit or moderate the discussions here with the exception of inappropriate or intolerant language or threads. We look forward to hearing your contributions and collectively improving access to relevant information on this important topic.
